Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day is the 4th February, which celebrates talking therapies, peer support groups, befriending and other mental health services. One in four of us will be affected by mental health problems and for many there is still a taboo in speaking about this, giving people feelings of isolation, loneliness and being ashamed.

Changes Bristol has teamed up with Bristol based group, Story Slam, to host an event with live story-telling, poetry and spoken word. Anyone can take part, please just get in contact with your reading.

The event will start at 7pm on Thursday 4th February

Sign up HERE to be sent the Zoom link and join us on the night

Cost is £5 per person (free for Changes Bristol members) and all donations will go directly towards supporting people in mental health distress – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/storyjam

Joining the show

We will be hosting the show on the video conferencing software Zoom. Once you have purchased a ticket you will be sent a Zoom link and Meeting ID to access the show.

You can join the show via the link on basically any device. However please note that your device will need a microphone and camera if you wish to be seen/heard or share a piece.

Taking part in the show

Anyone can come along to a show and listen to stories, poems or spoken word; but if you would like to share a piece to the audience, there are 2 ways you can do that. You can either tell a full 5 minute piece live on Zoom, or submit an anonymous short story, poem or piece of spoken word which will be read out by the host during the show.

To tell a piece live or submit an anonymously for a host to read on the night you can fill out this form HERE

Or simply email your name or your piece to alex@changesbristol.org.uk

Rules

Stories, poems and spoken word pieces must follow a few simple rules. The rules are not meant to be restrictive, but are there to ensure we get to hear as many told as possible. If you’re unsure about anything just drop us a message

• Ideally around the theme of ‘Time to Talk’

• They must be told in 5 minutes.

• They can be stories, spoken word or poetry.

What is Story Slam?
