It’s that time of year again!
Our Christmas Big Give push is a really important part of the years fundraising and we are being really ambitious this year with our goal, £7,500 to go towards funding for in person safe space groups.
This year we have made videos in conjunction with some really wonderful young student film-makers from @screenology @makehappeninstitute to illustrate more clearly what these spaces mean for the communities who need them.
The idea of safe spaces can be hard to understand for those who do not need them in quite the same way, although we can all understand the benefit of being around people who understand us and are going through the same things.
There is an ease to be found in communicating with people who just get it, whatever it may be, work, family history, heartbreaks, it’s a sense of belonging that allows you to really be there, to relax and share. This is even more important when your identity is not just something personal to you but a larger issue that people have strong personal reactions to.
We made these videos to show the magic that happens when people are given that sense of safety and a place where they can drop their shoulders and just be who they are as they express their hearts and hurts to each other.
For those who are unaware of what it is, the Big Give is a charitable giving platform which matches charities and donors to larger sponsors known as Champions who match the funds donated throughout the campaign to double the amount donated to us.
To participate in the Big Give, donations can be made between midday on December 3rd and midday on December 10th. You can contribute directly on the Big Give page via the provided link below.
