Boiling Wellness Update

13 March 2017

We were so excited to be back at Boiling Wells for our Boiling Wellness session today! We said a final goodbye to the old kitchen which is going to be transformed into a wood working area.

The new kitchen has now been filled with all the cooking equipment and some of us enjoyed making use of it to mix some belated pancake batter and ginger syrup while others prepared a feta salad. While we waited for the batter to settle and the syrup to thicken we went up to the raised beds to prepare the soil for planting.

After the digging it was time for lunch and the pancakes were a very popular dish. We all took turns frying them.

When lunch was over Bex took us on a tour of the site to show us the improvements made in recent building works, what some of the volunteers had been up to and the signs of Spring that were very evident.

We saw a spider web glistening in the sunshine...

...purple crocuses...

...daffodils...

...new leaves...

...celandines...

...work on the willow hedge and new raised beds...

...beautiful shadow patterns...

...speedwells...

...the new improved woodchips that have been spread around the site to stop it getting so muddy...

...pretty wood rings...

...soaring trees...

...the new bee area, cleared by volunteers and planted with grasses and wild flower seeds...

...a Red Admiral butterfly...

...and of course, the bubbling stream that gave Boiling Wells its name.
